Te Kawa Robb

Kia Ora! Welcome to my blog.

My name is Te Kawa Robb. I'm a 27y/o male triathlete based in Wellington, New Zealand. I'm a full-time university student and athlete chasing my dream of competing in the international triathlon circuit. From here, I’ll keep you updated on my racing and training, news from the local and international triathlon scene and a few tips and pointers on how to get involved and get the most out of this awesome sport. Currently, I'm training hard for the 2009 World Championships, with the Standard Distance World Triathlon Champs in the Gold Coast first up in early Sept 09, and the Long Distance World Triathlon Champs in Perth 6 weeks later in late October 09. And then it's straight into the 09/10 domestic racing season! 2009/10 is going to be a great season, and I'm looking forward to it. Please take the time to check out my sponsors websites and support the products and services they offer.

TDF Twitter Comp Winners!

Well, this year’s Tour de France put on an epic display in all areas of the race. From the carnage and crashes very early on in the race eliminationg many Malliot Jaune contenders, to the unsportsman-like sprint clashes, the humour, colour and passion of the crowds, the controversial attack by Contador, the impressive battle on Le Tourmalet and to the final ITT decider and all the action in between, the 2010 TDF was an epic show. And for a couple of you, the race proved to be a rewarding event as well…

The Interview - Elaine Brent

Elaine Brent is a newcomer to the sport of Triathlon. Like many before her, Elaine took up the sport after sustaining an injury while running. Her competitive track running background meant that Elaine definitely shouldn’t be under-estimated in the later stages of any Triathlons. With lots of quality coaching, hard work and commitment, she’s made huge gains in her swimming ability and cycling skills and now poses a considerable threat across the board.

European Adventures - Pt 2

Southern France; it’s actually living up to everything I expected, and much much more. I was having to pinch myself on a daily basis to double check that I’m actually alive and that I’m actually here to live and train for the next 4 months. What a dream! The bruising has become too much though, so I’ve accepted the reality that I AM in fact in Southern France, I AM actually training better than I have ever trained before and I’m feeling much more alive than I’ve felt in so long. It’s so great to be here. Living the dream!

French National Std Dist Champs

Salut!

So after a pretty solid 1100km drive from Charleville-Mezieres, I’m finally in Toulon, my home away from home for the next 5 months! The drive down was heaps of fun. Serge drove the whole way, which was impressive after having raced in the morning too, and Florian entertained us with bad jokes and falling asleep mid-sentence.

Europe 2010

In 2 weeks time, I’ll be on my way to Europe to spend 5 months training and racing my guts out, which I’m very excited about! Not being a big fan of winter, I’m thrilled to have been accepted into a French triathlon club based in Toulon, on the Mediterranean coast. I’m incredibly lucky to have been accepted into their team as there are very very few spots for international athletes to race in the French Grand Prix circuit, and as you can imagine, these are highly sought after and virtually impossible to get.

Last Days in China

Once I got the post race media stuff out of the way and snuck in some chill-out time back in the hotel, I went back to the race course to watch the reminder of the elite women’s race with Dan, the Hong Kong coach. He said he was keen to go out for pizza for dinner and had spotted an American chain brand in a mall somewhere and invited me to join them which I was stoked about as, in all due respect, I was totally bored of the food I’d been eating for the last 5 days. So after committing gastrointestinal suicide with all the super cheesy pizza, (I’m intolerant to dairy) we went to Dairy Queen (what was I thinking??) and had some fruit smoothies.
